Scholarships of $5,000 to $10,000 a year are available. College juniors accepted to or enrolled in a teaching program at an Illinois college or university who have maintained a 2.5 GPA, and completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid are eligible. Award recipients must agree to teach in an Illinois school with a teacher shortage. Non-U.S. citizens, as well as recipients of the Minority Teachers of Illinois Scholarship or the Illinois Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver, are ineligible to apply.

Full tuition waivers are available. Applicants must be pursuing a teaching career in special education and be a high school graduate. Those applying during their senior year of high school must rank in the upper half of their class. If applying later, you cannot already have obtained teacher certification. In addition, applicants must be enrolled in a public four-year Illinois college or university.
