Pharmacy Scholarships

A career in pharmacy offers exciting opportunities and a competitive salary for students who excel at math and science. To become a pharmacist, students must have a bachelors degree and normally additional training up to the equivalent of a masters degree at a pharmaceutical school. While the costs of all of this education can be substantial, there are numerous ways to finance your training through scholarships. Many of these programs offer to pay the tuition for a year of education in exchange for a work commitment at the donor's operation. These scholarships have the benefit of providing tuition support along with the guarantee of employment following graduation.
  1. Health Alliance

    • Health Alliance provides tuition support for through its "Pharmacy Intern Tuition Benefit" program, which covers the cost of tuition while the recipient of the scholarship works as an intern in exchange for a 12-month commitment for each year of paid assistance.

    Rite Aid

    • Rite Aid pharmacies offer competitive scholarships for students studying pharmacy through the National Pharmaceutical Association and the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. These scholarships provide tuition assistance or funds which can be used for educational resources. Additionally, Rite Aid offers low-interest student loans and loan consolidation for students participating in their internship programs.

    AFPE and APS

    • The American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists offer a combined scholarship program called "Gateway to Research," which provides $6,000 as of 2010 to be used for educational expenses for pre-doctoral level research. Up to 60 of these scholarships are offered every year and the deadline for these applications is the beginning of March with the scholarship being applied the following September.

    Partners in Pharmacy

    • The National Community Pharmacist Association offers its "Partners in Pharmacy" scholarship, which provides a $2,000 check to be used for educational expenses. Applicants for this scholarship are evaluated on their leadership qualities, academic achievements and demonstrated interest. Applicants must be student members of the Association and must be currently enrolled in a pharmaceutical training course.
