Scholarships for Undergraduate Pharmacy Students

Undergraduate pharmacy students can find a number of financial resources available to assist them in pursuing their education. Scholarships in varying amounts are available to students through various foundations, organizations and clubs.
  1. APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists

    • Studenty pharmacy clubs offer scholarship opportunities.

      Active members of the APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists are eligible for a number of pharmacy scholarships. Students must finish one academic year in professional coursework and obtain at least a 2.75 grade point average in pharmacy courses to be eligible. Applicants must submit a transcript, an essay of 500 or fewer words, two recommendation letters and a resume. Most scholarships total about $1,000.

    The McKesson Pharmacy Scholarship Program

    • Employers may offer scholarships for pharmacy students.

      This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America. Applicants must be children or grandchildren of drug store owners who are customers of McKesson, a pharmaceutical wholesaler. Pharmacy students employed by businesses that are McKesson customers are also eligible. Applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted into a pharmacy school and in their third, fourth, fifth or sixth year of study. Up to 50 $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually and applications are available from July to October each year.

    NACDS Foundation Pharmacy Student Scholarship Program

    • The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) offers a number of scholarships to pharmacy students each year. The focus of the NACDS Foundation Pharmacy Student Scholarship Program is to promote chain community drug stores and assist pharmacy students with a sincere interest in chain community pharmacy careers. In 2009, more than 90 students received scholarships. The majority were $2,000 awards, while a few ranged from $2,500 to $5,000.
      Applicants must be full-time pharmacy students attending a U.S. college or school of pharmacy studying to obtain a doctor of pharmacy degree and have completed one year of pharmacy school with a grade average of C or better
