Through the Pfizer Epilepsy Scholarship program, pharmaceutical company Pfizer provides college scholarship money to students who have struggled with epilepsy. This scholarship is awarded in the amount of $2,000. To be eligible, a student must be a graduating high school senior who has already applied for college, or a college freshman, sophomore or junior. College seniors who have applied for graduate school are also eligible to apply. A student must be able to provide medical documentation that they suffer from epilepsy. Applicants must also compose a 250-word essay on a topic related to their struggle with epilepsy. The annual deadline for application is June 15. This program provides scholarships in the amount of $2500 to qualified students who are pursuing a degree in nursing. Nursing students in the states of Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Mississippi, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Washington are eligible, as are graduate nursing students in Georgia and New Jersey. Students in parts of Southern California, Southern and Central Florida, and parts of Texas may also be eligible. The annual deadline for application is January 13. Pharmaceutical company Genzyme provides annual scholarship money to qualified biotechnology students through the Genzyme Corporation Biotechnology Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $3,500 to students who have lived in the Allston or Brighton community in Massachusetts, and who are pursuing a degree in a field related to science. To be eligible, a student must have been a resident of Allston or Brighton for the past three years and must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better.
