Midwifery Scholarships

Midwives enjoyed a respected and prevalent role nationwide up until the late 19th century. However, when doctors began assuming more childbirthing duties, the practice of midwifery declined until the last few decades. A resurgence of interest in the profession led to the rise in people studying to become midwives. There are several scholarship programs available for students to fund their midwifery education.
  1. The National Health Service Corps Scholarship

    • The National Health Service Corps pays the tuition, books and equipment fees of nurse-midwives in exchange for two to four years of work in underserved communities. Scholarship recipients also receive a monthly stipend. Participants in the program must come from disadvantaged backgrounds or demonstrate exceptional financial need. Submit applications online.
