Medical Education Scholarships

Many students are interested in pursuing careers in the medical profession. If you enjoy working with people, doing research or helping save lives, a career in medicine may be a satisfying one. Depending on what area of medicine you are interested in pursuing, there are different kinds of scholarship available. Scholarship opportunities may vary depending on the state you are going to practice in or do residency training.
  1. Rural Medical Education of Oklahoma

    • Students interested in practicing medicine in Oklahoma should consider applying to the Rural Medical Education Loan Forgiveness Program. Since 1975, over 400 students have received scholarships through this program. The state of Oklahoma is committed to providing quality medical care to its residents and offers $60,000 dollars in scholarship money over the course of four years. Students have to be willing to practice for a period of time in a rural community in Oklahoma.

    Alliance Medical Education Scholarship Fund

    • Medical students who live in Pennsylvania may qualify for the Medical Education Scholarship Fund. The Pennsylvania Medical Society Alliance is an organization of physicians that advocates for the medical profession. Its aim is to help medical students in need of financial assistance. Applications are due in February of the application year. Scholarships for $2,000 are delivered to medical students that are enrolled full time in a medical degree program in Pennsylvania.

    Medical Scholars Program

    • The Infectious Disease Society of America offers scholarships to medical students. Their mission is to attract and best and brightest students into the medical field. The Medical Scholars Program is especially interested in students studying facets of different diseases such as epidemiology, microbiology and disease prevention, offering scholarships of $2,000 per academic year. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited medical school.
