The Health Occupations Students of America provide annual scholarships to students pursuing careers in a medical profession. A student must be a member of HOSA to qualify for this scholarship. Both undergraduate students and graduating high school seniors are eligible to apply. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a student's academic record, leadership skills, community involvement, written references and a student's application essay. The United States Army offers a generous scholarship package to medical students through The F. Edward Hébert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program. This program pays for all of a student's tuition, books and educational fees, and also provides a monthly cost-of-living stipend of more than $2,000. To be eligible, a student must be a U.S. citizen, pursuing a graduate degree and must qualify as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve.
