Paying for college is no easy task, especially with the cost of a college degree steadily increasing. However, if you're a college student in the state of Massachusetts, finding education funding is made easier by the large number of scholarship and grant programs available.
  1. Christian A. Herter Scholarship Program

    • The Christian A. Herter Scholarship Program was established to provide scholarship awards to outstanding high school students who plan to pursue a college degree. To apply, you must be in your sophomore or junior year of high school, be a legal resident of Massacjisetts and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Selected students can receive up to $15,000 in scholarship funding on the condition that they enroll in a Massachusetts college or university after graduation.

    MassMutual Scholars Program

    • The MassMutual Scholars Program is open to residents of Hampden County, Massachusetts who plan to attend college in-state. To be eligible, you must be a graduating high school senior with an interest in completing a degree in business, finance or information technology. The program provides scholarships of up to $5,000 per year for up to four year for selected students who demonstrate academic excellence and defined career goals.

    Gilbert Matching Student Grant Program

    • The Gilbert Matching Student Grant Program provides grant assistance ranging from $200 to $2,500 to Massachusetts nursing students who have not yet earned a bachelor's degree. You must be able to demonstrate financial need, be enrolled full-time and be making satisfactory academic progress to be considered for the grant award.

    Early Childhood Educators Scholarship Program

    • The Early Childhood Educators Scholarship provides college funding to undergraduate students who are enrolled in early childhood education degree programs or are studying in related areas, such as elementary education, sociology or psychology. You must be attending an eligible college or university in-state and be employed at a licensed early chilldhood education learning center for a period of at least one year prior to applying. Selected students may receive a maximum of $3,600 per semester.

    Public Service Grant Program

    • The Public Service Grant Program is designed to provide student aid to children of those who have been killed in the line of duty in the state of Massachusetts. To be eligible, you must be the child or spouse of a police officer, firefighter or corrections officer who was killed in the line of duty, the child of a veteran who was killed in action or the child of a veteran who served in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War and is listed as missing in action. Students attending public colleges and universities in Massachusetts receive full tuition funding while students at private colleges may receive a maximum of $2,500 per year.
