The National Association of Negro Business and Profession Women's Clubs sponsors the Ethel Lee Hoover Ellis Scholarships for female African-American business degree students. Applicants must be in their sophomore or junior year, have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and be residents of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee or West Virginia. Applicants must submit a 750-word essay relating to a specified business topic. The number and value of scholarships awarded annually vary based on the availability of funding.

The American Association of University Women administers the Selected Professions Fellowship program, which provides scholarships of $5,000 to $18,000 to African-American women pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree. Awards may be used only to pay for tuition, books and fees. Requests for funding for research or travel will be denied. Applicants must be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university, and applications are accepted from students regardless of their year in school. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement, potential for professional success, commitment to advancing the causes of women in their field and financial need. The fellowship is awarded for one year and awards are nonrenewable.
