Autism Schools in Georgia

Oftentimes general education schools do not have the resources to meet the special needs of children with autism or other pervasive developmental disorders, such as Asperger's syndrome or PDD-NOS. In the state of Georgia, there are several schools designed to teach children with autism the necessary social skills and academics needed to become functioning adults.
  1. Kaleidoscope ABA School

    • The Kaleidoscope ABA School is located in Canton, Georgia. The school teaches regular academics using the ABA, or applied behavior analysis, teaching method designed for children with autism, along with language and communication skills. Kaleidoscope has two program levels. In the first level all teaching is through one-on-one training, and is focused on learning verbal skills. The second level is more advanced, and the child is placed with peers to learn academic skills and more advanced verbal skills. The Kaleidoscope ABA School accepts children aged 18 months to 8 years old. People interested in enrolling their children into the Kaleidoscope ABA School should contact the school by phone.

    Marcus Autism Center

    • The Marcus Autism Center is a non-profit organization located in Atlanta, Georgia. The Marcus Autism Center provides information, services and education to children with autism and other pervasive developmental disorders. It is one of the largest employers of child development and health care professionals in the state of Georgia. They offer clinical behavior treatment programs to help children with autism learn to cope with their neurological condition and develop socially appropriate behaviors. The Early Intervention program uses applied behavioral analysis, or ABA, to come up with an education plan for each child and document their progress. Students wishing to be admitted to one the Marcus Autism Center programs should contact the center by phone. If parents wish to enroll a child with autism into The Early Intervention Program, records of the child's individual education plan, or IEP, must be mailed to the center.
