Founded in 1999, the private, Miami-based Carrie Brazer Center for Autism has both elementary and high school programs. The elementary school has a student to teacher ratio of 1:1, while the high school ratio is 2-3:1. This school is based on the Applied Behavior Analysis method, but also uses the Picture Exchange Communication System (for those with communication deficits), as well as the Floor-time Approach, music therapy, and sensory integration therapies. The school encourages monthly visits from parents, and also provides home visits to help the child with specific skill acquisition, and to implement consistent behavior reduction. Private programs can be extremely expensive, so inquire at the school for information regarding payment plans.

Sydney's School for Autism is a private nonprofit program based in Tampa, Florida. The school offers both Applied Behavioral Analysis as well as Applied Verbal Analysis in an integrated program. In this way children with autism learn how to interact with children who do not have it. The program runs from pre-k to first grade as an early intervention, and all programs are 1:1 therapist/teacher-to-student ratio. The tuition is $36,666 per year, which covers therapist and teacher pay as well as school operating costs. The directors of the school volunteer their time without pay and have constant fundraising initiatives to keep the cost of the program as low as possible. Scholarships are also available for lower income families. Sydney's School was awarded an Autism Impact Award by The International Center for Research and Education---for excellence, outstanding contributions and impact.
