The Highlands Center for Autism is a year-round private school that accepts children at diagnosis through school age and mirrors the program at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Autism. All staff have appropriate credentials, and the staff to child ration is 1:1. Most importantly, each child has a program tailored to his needs. Besides teachers, an array of specialist are on hand to help. The goal of the Highland Center is for students to effectively transition back to their home school districts.

The Carriage House, located in Louisville, has an Early Intervention Program specifically designed for individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities like autism. First Steps refers children to the program. Carriage House was one of the first schools in the United States providing services to people with autism.
