Summer Camps for Kids in Europe

Parents looking to enroll their children in European summer camps may choose from an array of possibilities to suit diverse needs. Summer possibilities in Europe include language camps geared at teaching children a second or third language and camps run by American or English private schools, focused on providing kids from international backgrounds sports and recreational programs in a multicultural environment. Most European camps run from late June until August and sessions last from a single week to an entire month.
  1. French Language Camps

    • A handful of residential summer camps that immerse children from nine years of age in a French language environment offer programs throughout France. The Centre International d'Antibes operates six camps, including one in Paris, one along the Atlantic coast in the town of Biarritz, as well as camps in Antibes, Cannes, Hyeres and Nice. Each camp is priced at 645 euros per week and includes accommodation, meals, French language instruction, recreational activities and regular excursions, as well as full supervision.

The camp in Hyeres serves children and teenagers between nine and 17 years of age, while some of the other camps accommodate specific age groups. Camps located in southern France and along the Atlantic coast offer kids sailing, visits to theme parks, a free shuttle service to the beach, barbecues, as well as evening cabarets and discos.

    American International Camp of Budapest

    • The American International School of Budapest (AISB) offers children from ages 4 to 15 an English-language recreational and sports camp each summer on its sprawling campus. Children are divided into separate junior and senior camps, depending on their age. The junior camps offers instruction in swimming, tennis, soccer and badminton, as well as story-telling, arts and dance. Children and teens enrolled in the older camp may also participate in archery, wall climbing and lacrosse. Both programs offer day camps, running from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, from late June until the end of July. As these are not residential camps, they may be ideal for parents who live and work in Hungary, as well as for those vacationing in the Hungarian capital.
