Chair Massage Schools

Chair massage therapy is offered as a course in most massage therapy training facilities and institutions. The course is often one type of course in a program that teaches several massage techniques so that therapists have well-rounded training.
  1. Cortiva Institute

    • The Cortiva Institute is a chain of wellness schools that offer massage therapy and wellness education in many states throughout the U.S. The massage therapy program gives students the knowledge of several types of massage therapy, including approaches to Swedish, sports, deep tissue and chair massage. The program focuses on the foundation of massage techniques and enables students to diagnose and treat soft tissue dysfunction. The program consists of 56 quarter credit hours and 750 clock hours and can be completed from 12 to 15 months.

    Nevada School of Massage Therapy

    • The Nevada School of Massage Therapy in Las Vegas features a professional massage therapy program that can be completed full time in seven months, or part time in 12 months. The program teaches students the art of massage therapy and aims to exceed the standards set by national certification and state and municipal government licensing for massage therapy. Among some of the courses are anatomy and physiology, cranial sacral therapy and trigger point therapy. The program also includes training in chair massage. The School of Massage Therapy also has locations in Arizona, Utah and Colorado.

    Canadian Schools

    • Two massage schools in Canada are specific to chair massage therapy. They are Relax To the Max and the Canadian Institute of Natural Health and Healing, which features a certificate program in chair massage. Students need only to have graduated from high school to apply for enrollment into the programs. The training helps provide for students who want to train as massage therapists in environments such as airports, ski resorts, shopping malls and other environments where massage space is restricted to a chair only.

    Hands-on Healing Institute

    • The Hands On Healing Institute is based in Pasadena, California. It also provides training in massage therapy. Beginner students enroll in the CMT program, which consist of either 250 hours or 500 hours of massage therapy training toward a massage certification. Those who want to learn advanced chair massage therapy can sign up for advanced electives to put toward their certificate.
