Colorado Massage Schools

  1. Boulder College of Massage Therapy

    • Boulder College of Massage Therapy has been teaching massage therapy education since 1975 and is accredited by the Accredited Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. Programs that are available are associate of occupational studies and a massage therapy certificate. To receive a degree, you need to complete six months of part-time evening classes three nights per week and 120 hours of electives on Fridays and Saturdays. Classes included in the program are clinical massage, advanced integrative therapeutic massage and trauma and the body. Some of the electives available to choose from are in canine massage, sports massage, spa elements and prenatal massage. Massage therapy certificates are available that include Swedish therapeutic massage, comfort touch, herbology, reflexology and vibrational medicine.

    Colorado School of Healing Arts

    • The Colorado School of Healing Arts has been teaching massage since 1986 in Lakewood. Eleven programs are available to choose from, including certified massage therapy, cranial sacral, oncology, sports massage and reflexology, which can take seven to 18 months to complete. The 700-clock-hour certified massage therapist certificate program will take a minimum of six months to complete with required classes in diet and nutrition; anatomy; business; massage I, II and III; body-centered therapy; sports massage; palpation of anatomy; clinical massage; integrative massage; and physiology. One elective is required and can be in infant massage, prenatal massage, seated massage, aromatherapy or intro to polarity. Day and evening classes are available for all programs except the seven-month fast-track program.

    Academy of Natural Therapy

    • Located in Greeley, the Academy of Natural Therapy has been teaching therapists since 1989. Benefits of this school include the smaller class sizes, the ability to earn income while you are learning, the programs accreditation with the Commission of Massage Therapy Accreditation, the availability of mentors and the low cost of tuition. Tuition for the whole program is $14,000 as of 2011 and includes classes, books, lotions, oils, uniforms, herbs, insurance and ingredients. The school's facility includes four classrooms, 18 massage rooms, a heated therapy pool and student housing. Some of the classes included in the massage therapy program are chair massage, anatomy, sports massage and prenatal, delivery and infant massage.

    Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado

    • Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado is located in Denver. A certified massage therapist program is offered that can be completed in only one year. Classes include Swedish massage, reflexotherapy, Asian technique and deep-tissue massage. Students will also learn about ethics, business management, CPR, anatomy and physical assessment. The cost of the program as of 2011 is $11,750 for fees, expenses and tuition. Continuing education courses are available as well in advanced bodywork training for $4,865 and neurology for body-workers for $3,850, as of 2011. A library, student lounge and a dining area are provided for student use.
