Cortiva Institute in Tucson Arizona has been in operation since 1982. Students learn massage therapy and practice, in addition to communication, ethics and business. The college offers two diploma programs: the 750-hour Professional Massage Therapy program and the 1000-hour Extended Professional Massage Therapy program. Both programs integrate theory, technique, anatomy and physiology with experience. Classes begin four times a year. The 750-hour program can be completed in 9 months full-time, or 12 months part-time. The 1000-hour program requires one additional quarter term to complete. Students gain hands-on experience in an instructor-led massage therapy clinic.
Carrington College was formerly Apollo College, but changed its name in 2010. The Tucson campus offers a certificate in Massage Therapy. The program includes extensive review of anatomy and physiology, in addition to Shiatsu, Swedish and sports massage techniques. Students are also taught information related to the business of massage therapy, such as basic management skills, marketing and accounting. Many students have the desire to open their own business after graduation.
Brookline College is a proprietary two-year career college that has been in operation since 1979. With almost 300 undergraduate students, the college offers students a diploma in Massage Therapy. Topics covered include health and wellness, anatomy and physiology and massage techniques. Brookline College provides students with a flexible class schedule and a four-day school week. Students can earn their diploma in as little as eight months and upon graduation, they are prepared for entry-level positions as massage therapists in different locations including spas, hospitals and fitness clubs.
Adriatic Therapies is a massage therapy center that provides career training for those who are new to massage therapy or for professionals who want to obtain additional skills. The center is owned by its founder, Adrianne Stelzenmuller, a personal massage therapist. Career training involves programs such as Aquatic Massage Therapist and Practitioner Training, involving both short-term courses and full certification courses. Adriatic Therapies also offers a course in Bodywork Tutoring for Professionals. Bodywork Tutoring for Non-professionals provides individuals with short tutoring sessions that teach basic anatomy and therapeutic massage techniques.
