Lakeside School of Massage Therapy in Milwaukee, Wis., has two programs for massage therapists. One program leads to an associate degree in massage therapy, and the other is a diploma program. Completion of the diploma program allows students to take the national massage therapist examination and be licensed by the state. An associate degree is not required to practice massage therapy in Wisconsin, and students must already be licensed, or in the process of obtaining a license, before they can enroll in the associate degree program. The associate program offers advanced-level instruction in massage, anatomy and physiology and orthopedic testing. Students at Lakeside are eligible to apply for federal financial aid.
