Licensed Massage Therapy Schools

Massage therapy is a profession with many options. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, many massage therapists are self-employed, allowing them to choose their hours, locations and clients. There are more than 80 types of massage in which to specialize, from Swedish massage to reflexology. Laws governing massage therapist licensure vary depending on the state. Attending an accredited message therapy school will assure that you receive the training needed to meet state requirements.
  1. Lakeside School of Massage Therapy

    • Lakeside School of Massage Therapy in Milwaukee, Wis., has two programs for massage therapists. One program leads to an associate degree in massage therapy, and the other is a diploma program. Completion of the diploma program allows students to take the national massage therapist examination and be licensed by the state. An associate degree is not required to practice massage therapy in Wisconsin, and students must already be licensed, or in the process of obtaining a license, before they can enroll in the associate degree program. The associate program offers advanced-level instruction in massage, anatomy and physiology and orthopedic testing. Students at Lakeside are eligible to apply for federal financial aid.
