ISSN offers a 675-hour massage program that prepares students to pass the National Massage Certification exam and the Georgia Massage Therapy Board Exam. The massage program covers western massage modalities including Swedish massage and deep-tissue massage. Students also receive instruction in Asian bodywork, shiatsu massage, Ayurveda massage and Rheki therapy. ISSN has been in business since 1985 and was the first school in the United States to receive national accreditation exclusively for specialty spa training. The program is taught with a holistic approach, meaning that instruction focuses on treating the physical, social and psychological needs of the body as a whole. ASHA teaches a 900-hour massage program with a focus on holistic therapy. The three massage techniques taught are neuromuscular therapy, sports massage and Swedish massage. ASHA is the only school in the state of Georgia accredited by the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA). COMTA is the only accrediting agency that focuses specifically on the accreditation of massage schools. The school offers day and evening classes as well as a weekends-only program that lasts about 17 months. The program is eligible for Federal financial aid, or students can pay for the program as they complete training.
