Estheticians are licensed professionals who performs services such as facials, massages, makeup application and hair removal. To become an esthetician, you must attend a cosmetology school with an esthetics program, complete the program and become licensed by the state of Georgia. Depending on if you attend a program part-time or full-time, you can graduate within six to 12 months of study. After graduation, you may work in a salon. Some estheticians choose to study advanced topics and work in a medical facility.

    • The International School of Skin and Nail care offers a comprehensive program in esthetics. The program focuses on the theory and practice of skin care. In the theory portion, students study body systems, skin diseases and disorders, products and ingredients, anti-aging and business practices. Some estheticians may choose to practice in a medical setting and will study advanced subjects such as medical terminology, laser physics and plastic surgery procedures. The practical portion of the program gives students a chance to practice techniques in the school's spa environment. During the practical portion, students perform facial massages, body treatments, hair removal and microdermabrasion. The program requires 1,000 hours of study, which can be completed during day or evening classes.
