Located in the heart of Phoenix, the Phoenix College Phlebotomy Certificate Program consists of 8.5 course credits and requires completion of 120 hours of hands-on clinical experience. Students are trained by experts in the field of phlebotomy. Students who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion that qualifies them to then complete a national certification exam. Clinical requirements must be met by completing three straight weeks at 40 hours per week of work in an approved clinical setting.
Kaplan College Phoenix Campus offers a medical assistant diploma program that includes hands-on training in the clinical and administrative aspects of health care and phlebotomy. In addition to classroom lectures, students of the program will complete an externship with an approved doctor's office, clinic, hospital or laboratory, which must be successfully completed prior to certification. The program offered through Kaplan College is sponsored by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to sit for the national certification exam in phlebotomy.
Cactus Wren Home Care and Care Giver Training offers an entry-level program that prepares students for a career in the field of phlebotomy. To complete the program, students must successfully complete 40 clock hours of classroom instruction in addition to 100 hours of clinical training. In addition, the clinical training must include at least 100 successful blood draws that include skin punctures and venipunctures. Classroom courses are held over a seven-week period.
The Brookline College Phoenix campus offers a Phlebotomy Technician diploma program consisting of 180 clock hours. Students study the fields of Hematology and Coagulation and Immunology in addition to learning the proper use of equipment such as butterfly needles, tourniquets, vaccutainer tubes and syringes. Through a combination of instructor-led lectures and hands-on clinical experience, the Brookline College Phlebotomy Technician program prepares its students for the skills they need to obtain entry-level work in hospitals, doctor's offices and clinics and to sit for the national certification exam.
