Atlanta Trade Schools

A trade school is an institution that teaches its students the skills needed to perform a particular job. Its main focus is getting students out in the workforce.     • Atlanta Technical College's skilled trade department has an extensive list of courses for students. Students can be trained in trades such as barbering, carpentry, electrical repair, automotive repair and air condition repair. The trade school offers associate degrees, diplomas and technical certificates. In addition to its trade school, Atlanta Technical College offers classes in health and human services, business, media, and information technology. The trade school was named best community college in the country by Washington Monthly magazine in 2007. Atlanta Technical College's barbering department was named best barber school in the city by Barbershop Digest newspaper.

    The Art Institute of Atlanta

    • The Art Institute of Atlanta offers classes in culinary arts, design, fashion, media arts, art foundation and general education. Associate degrees, bachelor's degrees and certificates are awarded. The trade school conducts day, evening, weekend and online classes. The Art Institute of Atlanta's Career Services Department help students find employment once they have completed their studies. The trade school dates back to 1949.

    Westwood College

    • Westwood College has two campuses in Atlanta. One campus is located in Midtown Atlanta and another campus is on the city's northeast side. The trade school is divided into seven programs of study, including technology, design, business, justice, health care, industrial services and professional studies. Associate, bachelor's and master degree programs are offered at Westwood College.

      In 2009, the Online Education Database ranked Westwood College 16th out of 44 colleges and universities in the country for its online course offerings. In addition to online courses, Westwood College has day, evening and weekend classes.

    • Located in Atlanta's Perimeter business district, American InterContinental University has degree programs in business, criminal justice, design and information technology.
