The Pacific College of Oriental Medicine is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). It has also received numerous awards and recognition for its exceptional education in alternative medicine from organizations such as the American Oriental Bodywork Therapy Association (AOBTA) and the American Library Association. In addition to providing a bachelor's and associate degree in massage therapy, the college offers bachelor's and master's degree programs in acupuncture, herbology and traditional Oriental medicine.
Students enrolled in the Asian Bodywork Therapy Program can work towards their associate or bachelor's degrees. The program is designed to prepare students to become fully-certified massage and body-work therapists. After successful completion of their training, students are eligible to become certified by both the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).

Founded in 1916, the Swedish Institute provides well-rounded training in the applications of massage therapy techniques widely utilized in Europe, and eastern massage systems like Shiatsu and Tuina. In addition to offering massage therapy courses, the institute incorporates training in acupuncture. Students will complete the practical component of their clinical training by working alongside licensed massage therapists at the institute's on-site clinic. The massage therapy course consists of a 16-month full-time training with the option of enrolling in a 32-month part-time study. Courses are offered during the day and evening. Foundation courses in massage therapy include anatomy and physiology, pathology, and practical training in massage techniques.

Located 30 minutes from downtown Manhattan, the Brooklyn Institute of Massage Therapy was founded in 2005 and is approved by the New York State Board of Regents. Applicants to the massage therapy course must be high school graduates and U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The curriculum provides training in basic courses in massage therapy, clinical internships and elective courses. Students are required to complete 1,082 hours of training in order to successfully complete the program and qualify for their pre-licensing examination.
