SCTCC offers a nursing assistant program approved by the Minnesota Department of Health that prepares graduates to take the written and skills test for placement on the State Registry to work as a Nursing Assistant and/or Home Health Aide. The 75-hour course prepares students to work in a health care facility. Graduates of the program can take the state exam at SCTCC.

    • Northland Community and Technical College is a public institution with multiple campus locations throughout northwest Minnesota. The nursing assistant program is available on the East Grand Forks campus located near the Minnesota/North Dakota border. The program is approved by the Minnesota Department of Health. Students learn basic human needs, nursing skills, principles of body mechanics and how to assist residents with activities of daily living.     • Normandale Community College is a public school located in Bloomington, Minnesota, just outside of Minneapolis. NCC offers a nursing assistant program that qualifies students to take the state certification exam to become certified nursing assistants. The program teaches students how to measure vital signs and assist individuals with physical needs, such as personal hygiene, using the bathroom, exercise and nutrition. The program also focuses on emotional, spiritual and psychosocial needs of patients. Students participate in classroom lectures and practice in a lab setting. Graduates of the program are awarded a certificate of completion.
