CNA Programs in Nevada

Certified nurse assistants, or CNAs, work in nursing homes or at hospitals under the supervision of registered nurses. Their primary duties include transporting patients for medical examinations and assisting patients while they're in physical training. Most CNA programs require a high school diploma, and the training is usually available at vocational schools. Numerous programs in Nevada offer CNA training that's been approved by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.

    • The certified nursing assistant program at the college of southern Nevada is offered in the spring, summer and fall and is an open-entry course that doesn't require an application for admission. Students enrolled in the program must have medical insurance, show proof of CPR certification and submit their TB, chest X-ray, drug test and physical examination reports. The program consists of a lecture, lab and clinical courses in nursing assistance. Upon successful completion of the program students will receive a certificate in nursing assistance.

    Great Basin College

    • The nursing assistant program at Great Basin College offers flexible daytime and evening schedules. Students must complete 80 hours of lecture and laboratory coursework along with 40 hours of clinical practice. Students who successfully complete their training in the program are eligible to enroll in the associate nursing degree or radiology programs at Great Basin College. Prospective applicants must submit a certification in CPR and negative results from their two-step TB test and chest X-ray examinations.
