Located in Tyler, Texas, approximately a one-hour drive from Dallas and about four hours from Houston, Tyler Junior College offers a traditional program for LVNs to continue their education to become RNs. The transitional program is two semesters in length. LVNs interested in pursuing this educational path must complete a total of six prerequisite courses to be considered for admission to this program, including English, anatomy and physiology.

El Centro College, located in the heart of downtown Dallas, offers an LVN to RN bridge program. To be considered for admission to the program, LVNs must have a minimum of six months of verifiable employment as an LVN and a minimum 2.5 GPA in their prerequisite courses. The program, which starts annually in the fall, is three semesters in length.
