Liberty Mutual, a nationwide insurance company, supports youth sports by financially assisting sports teams and leagues hosted by nonprofit organizations and school sports programs. Liberty Mutual awards Responsible Sports Community grants to large and small teams, as well as educational sports programs. These grants range between $2,500 and $5,000. To receive funding, all sports programs must recruit team supporters, such as parents, coaches and teachers, to take Responsible Sport Coaching and Responsible Sport Parenting coursework. To finalize the coursework, it's also required that these supporters take a quiz that is comprised of 10 questions. For each person that completes the coursework and quiz, the organization receives an accreditation point. The top 20 programs with the most credits receives funding.

For many sports programs, the most costly items are the equipment and uniforms for the team members. Nike, a nationwide sports retail company, provides nonprofit organizations and school athletic programs with product donations, such as shoes, apparel and athletic gear. Nike does not provide unsolicited monetary funding to sports programs. All interested applicants must pass an eligibility quiz online. After an application is submitted, it takes about 60 days to learn if the product request is granted.
