High School Girls Sports Grants

According to the Women's Sports Foundation, there are about 25 million children that are either overweight or obese. As girls age, according to the Women's Sports Foundation, their sports and physical fitness participation declines significantly, with 15 to 30 percent of 16- and 17-year-old girls reporting receiving no physical fitness activity whatsoever. These statistics may show the definite need for high school girls sports programs nationwide. There are many grant sources that provide funding to schools that build and enhance sports participation among teenage girls.
  1. Women's Sports Foundation

    • The Women's Sports Foundation strives to give all girls, especially girls from the age of 8 to 18 living in under-served populations, the opportunity to participate in sports, no matter what their background or financial situation is; according to the Women's Sports Foundation. This foundation offers grants to organizations and schools that strive to incorporate a sports program for girls. And although the foundation primarily funds organizations located in Atlanta, Boston, San Antonio and Chicago, according to the Women's Sports Foundation, organizations nationwide are supported financially by receiving grants. In 2008, more than $1 million benefited girls' sports programs, according to the Women's Sports Foundation.

    General Mills Foundation

    • The General Mills Foundation gives back to the community by providing Champions for Healthy Kids grants. Since 2002, General Mills Foundation has joined hands with the American Diabetic Association Foundation and the President's Council on Healthy Fitness to award 50 grants in the amount of $10,000 each to organizations striving to combine physical fitness with healthy diets , according to GeneralMills.com. Improving or creating a high school girls sports program may be a program that qualifies for funding.
