Government Grants for Flight School

  1. Vertical Flight Foundation Scholarship

    Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship

    • The Ninety-Nines, Inc. provides the Amelia Earhart Memorial scholarship annually to qualified female students. The Amelia Earhart Memorial scholarship is awarded to female pilots who are members of the Ninety-Nines, Inc. pursuing secondary education, such as pilot certificates, technical training and college degrees. Applicants may request a recommendation from one of the local Ninety-Nines chapters. The award amount depends on the type of application submitted.

    LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation Scholarship

    • The LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation scholarship is for students studying to acquire a private pilot license. The LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation award does not cover university or college tuition, but it does cover expenses for independent flight school courses. Applicants must be 16 to 23 years of age, permanent residents or citizens of the United States. The application for the LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation scholarship is available online each October, and the award amounts vary each year.
