Athletic Grants for High Schools

High school athletic classes are funded through normal school funds; however, athletic programs and events also rely on club funding, ticket sales and other sources. Many programs need extra money throughout the year and must find creative ways to obtain this money. There are organizations and federal grants available to high schools that can help fund athletic classes, programs and events.
  1. Carol M. White Physical Education Program

    • The Carol M. White Physical Education Program is funded by the federal government through the U.S. Department of Education and awards grants to local educational agencies and community nonprofit organizations. Funds are awarded to programs that create or enhance physical education in K-12 settings and for afterschool programs centered around physical education. High schools may use this funding, but applications must be submitted by the school district. Recent awards include Boaz City School System in Alabama in the amount of $461,096, District of Columbia Public Schools in the amount of $496,359, and Lewis County Board of Education in Kentucky for $379,242. Award deadlines vary by year and the maximum award is $500,000.
