Grants for Culinary Programs

Culinary students may choose to pursue grants to pay for their education. Grants and scholarships are awarded on merit, financial need or affiliation. Grants are not loans, and do not require repayment.
  1. Government

    • Go online to fill out a grant application.

Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to fill out the free application for federal grants. The federal government offers aid to qualifying students to attend accredited schools. This is a precursor to talking with your institution.

    Your School

    • Talk with your school about their financial aid.

Talk with your current or prospective school’s financial aid office about their grants and scholarships. Enquire about alumni clubs and other non-loan funding available through your affiliation with your school.

    Online Grant Hub

    • There are culinary portals to help with grants.

Chef2Chef.net is a culinary portal with a list of organizations awarding culinary grants and scholarships. The listing is quite comprehensive, including grants offered by regional restaurant associations, foundations and educational institutions.

    The Culinary Trust

    • Students can apply for a Culinary Trust.

Apply for a grant from the Culinary Trust, a nonprofit organization providing scholarships and grants at accredited culinary art schools internationally. Several corporate sponsors are listed as supporters of the grant funds.

    Your Employer

    • Talk with your employer about what they can offer.

Ask your restaurant or hotel employer if they offer a grant or reimbursement program for educational-related expenses. Even if a policy is not on the books, you have a great opportunity to make the pitch and help secure more funds for your culinary education.
