Home School High School Programs

Whether a high school student opts for home schooling for religious reasons, personal preferences or as a way to get ahead in additional classes, joining an accredited program can help provide structure and ensure that students cover the basics in all of their courses. Home school programs work best for students who are independent and motivated to achieve, even when they aren't in a traditional school setting.

    • Bridgeway offers high school classes for home school students online as well as through traditional textbook programs. Before beginning classes, students take performance tests and receive a customized schedule of classes for the following year. Advisers and online tutors ensure that students complete the required work for each class. Advanced Placement (AP) courses are also available for those who may wish to take a test for college credit. For students and parents seeking a comprehensive Christian education, Bridgeway also offers a Christian home schooling program incorporating biblical teaching into all subjects. As of May 2010, the online program cost $2,195 for five to seven classes a year.

    K12

    • K12's program offers more than 100 different courses for high school students through its online curriculum. So that parents don't have to teach every subject when home schooling their children, each course offers access to a teacher who provides support over the phone and online to both students and parents. Online forums and seminars also help parents become better home school teachers. Families can purchase individual courses or students can enroll full-time in one of K12's online schools. K12 offers discounts for purchasing multiple course, but prices begin at $750 a year for teacher-supported classes.
