Top Summer College Programs

Summer college programs help give high school students the academic skill set needed when entering college. Teen Ink is a teen publication that was founded in 1989 and provides a listing of the top summer college programs. These summer college programs are just a few of the opportunities that are offered to high school students.
  1. Education Unlimited

    • Education Unlimited offers high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to participate in the A+ Summer program that is designed to help students build the skills that are needed for success in college. The program is held on the Stanford University campus. Students, who must have at least a 3.0 GPA, participate in academic activities at the college level. The courses that students attend are in logic, writing, presentations and research.

    Brandeis University

    • Brandeis University offers high school students the opportunity to enroll in the summer program on a commuting basis only. Students are enrolled in classes of no more that 10 students with undergraduate students from Brandies and other institutions across the nation. Students are offered the opportunity to take courses that include food, nutrition and health; general chemistry; programming in Java and C; introduction to drawing; classic Hollywood cinema; and film production. Brandeis also offers other summer programs: BIMA is an art institute for high school students with a Jewish context and is a residential summer program; Genesis integrates Jewish studies along with the arts, community and humanities and is a residential summer program; the social justice program is for commuting students.

    The Catholic University of America

    • The Catholic University of America offers a summer college program that is designed for rising juniors and seniors in high school. Students can choose between five- and six-week sessions. The exact dates vary yearly, but they are always between May and August. This program offers students the opportunity to complete one or two classes for college credit so that the workload during their first year is lessened. Students must have completed their sophomore year with an average of at least a grade B in college preparatory classes.
