Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, offers a summer program called Exploration in Architecture. This is a six-week course designed for the aspiring architecture student or any high school or college student who has a passion for the discipline. This program consists of study in areas such as composition, landscape architecture, urban design and building construction. In addition to classes, students will spend afternoons in studios where they will receive individual instruction and take part in small seminars. Students will have access to Cornell's Fine Arts Library, one of the most extensive architectural libraries in the world. Students completing this course will receive six college credits.

For nearly 30 years, the University of Southern California in Los Angeles has offered summer programs to students interested in a career in architecture. Targeted to high school students age 15 and older, Urban Exploration is designed to offer experience in architectural education as well as exposure to the diverse community in greater Los Angeles. Students will compile portfolios, work on collective design teams and will be presented with world design problems and possibly develop resolution to these complex issues. Additionally they will receive career counseling from current architectural students at the university. Students will live on campus for the four-week course and have access to educational and recreational facilities, giving them a true experience of campus life.

Career Explorations in Architecture is a three-week course offered by Tulane University in New Orleans. This is a short introduction to architecture, giving students a look into the creative process and professional training that it takes to complete a degree in architecture. While attending lectures and taking field trips, students will participate in discussions, explore methods and issues in architecture and will be given assignments in design exploration to be completed outside of class time. Students will have the opportunity to live on campus, though space is limited. High school students will receive three college credits upon completion of the course.
