Global Healing offers Health Education and Advisory Liaison internship positions to undergraduate students throughout the United States. Interns travel to Roatán, Honduras, for a period of one to three months to acquire experience in pediatric and community medicine through volunteer work at the Roatán Volunteer Pediatric Clinic (RVPC). Interns work with the American medical staff every morning during the week to coordinate care and locate patient resources. Interns spend afternoons with community health workers in HIV outreach clinics and family medical practices with Honduran doctors and missionaries. The program enables participants to understand the health needs of communities and how doctors employ their skills with the resources available to them.

The Summer Premedical Enrichment program at the University of Cincinnati accepts 18 college students each summer. The program lasts for six weeks and participants reside at the university for the duration of the program. All courses and workshops are conducted in small groups to provide substantial individualized attention. Students prepare for the MCATs, take courses in anatomy and physiology, and choose a physician to shadow from specialties such as emergency medicine, internal medicine, dermatology, psychiatry and general surgery. Students work on their public speaking and communication skills in preparation for admission interviews, and they participate in several simulated interviews with a Medical School Admission Committee member.

The University of Pittsburgh hosts a prematriculation program for individuals preparing to enter medical school in the next term. Students are introduced to the curriculum taught in the first year of medical school. Furthermore, second- and third-year medical students are available throughout the program to provide tutoring services, class notes, study guides and advice on the skills necessary to succeed in medical school. The university also offers an enrichment program for high school and college students designed to strengthen science study skills as well as communication and public speaking skills. College students are exposed to the research skills necessary in medical school programs, and the program assists students in preparing for the MCATs and medical admission interviews. High school students examine the professional field of medicine through seminars and interactions with physicians and medical students.
