Sponsored by the Dekker Foundation, the John J. McKetta Undergraduate Scholarship is given to a junior or senior who hopes to enter the chemical engineering field. The award, totaling $5,000, is presented to the student during the Student Awards Ceremony at the Annual Student Conference. In order to apply, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and they must submit a two-page essay explaining their career goals within chemical engineering. They must also be members of AlChE, attend an ABET-accredited school, and also submit two letters of recommendation, one being from their AlChE student chapter adviser.

High school seniors as well as undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for the Wire Reinforcement Institute's Scholarship for civil engineering. Awards range from $1,500 to $4,000 and are paid directly to the college or university. In order to apply, students must first select which category (high school, undergraduate or graduate) they belong to and fill out the appropriate application. While this must be submitted electronically, supporting materials must be mailed. For high school students, supporting materials include a transcript, SAT/ACT scores, class ranking (if available) and two letters of recommendation. For undergraduate and graduate applicants, complete transcripts, two letters of recommendation from civil engineering faculty members and a letter of recommendation from a past employer, provided the job was in a related field, are required.

The Eugene C. Figg Jr. Civil Engineering Scholarship is available to undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited program of study. In order to be eligible, applicants must be in their junior or senior year and be members, in good standing, of the American Society of Civil Engineers. To apply, students must submit a completed application, a personal statement explaining why they deserve the award as well as their interest in bridge design, a document explaining their financial need, two faculty letters of recommendation, a school transcript, a resume and any other documentation that would help the scholarship committee make a decision.
