Scholarships for Children of Retired Air Force Veterans

With rising higher education costs, a scholarship will help you offset the costs of attending college. The search for additional money to pay for school is tedious and time consuming. However, as a child of an Air Force veteran there are opportunities for you to qualify for scholarships. The Air Force Sergeants Association offers multiple scholarships for dependent children of Air Force veterans.
  1. AFSA Scholarship Program

    • The Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) scholarship program offers monetary scholarships to eligible dependent children to use for educational purposes only. This program began in 1968 with one $1,000 scholarship and now awards five $2,500 each year. This program is available to dependent members of the AFSA and axillary members, which includes Air Force veterans.

    CMSAF Scholarship Program

    • The Chief Master Sergeants of the Air Force (CMSAF) scholarship program was created in 1987 after the death of Chief Master Sergeant Richard Kisling. CMSAF awards recipients who are eligible for the Airmen Scholarship fund and are dependents of Air Force personnel or veterans. This program awards vary in amount from year to year. The CMASF program is funded by enlisted or retired airmen and veterans. CMASF differs from all three of the programs by allowing people to nominate individuals other than themselves for the scholarship.

    AMF Scholarship

    • The Airmen Memorial Foundation (AMF) scholarship awards 16 dependent children of Air Force personnel and veterans each year. This program offers 13 $1,000 scholarships and 3 $2,000 scholarships. The AMF awards dependents of Air Force personnel, which encompasses children of Air Force dependents.

    Eligibility

    • All three of these scholarships are awarded through the AFSA and require that all recipients meet the same eligibility requirements. Applications and instructions are available for download at hqafsa.org.

      Students must meet the following guidelines;
      1) Recipients must use the funds for educational-related expenses.
      2) Applicants must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5.
      3) All applications must be received between January 1 and March 31.
