Scholarships for Retired Navy Officers' Children

While getting into college can be challenging, figuring out how to pay for it can be overwhelming. A unique benefit of military service is in programs to make paying for college easier for service members and their dependents. For children of retired naval officers, there are many scholarship opportunities available to ease the cost burden of higher education.
  1. Navy Supply Corps Foundation Scholarship

    • The Navy Supply Corps Foundation Scholarship is available to children of retired Navy Supply Corps officers. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000 and students attending two- and four-year colleges may apply. Selection is based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership skills, personal character, and financial need.

    Chief Petty Officer Scholarship Fund

    • The Chief Petty Officer Scholarship Fund awards scholarships of $2,000 to children of active and retired chief petty officers. Scholarships are available for students enrolled or planning to enroll in a two- or four-year college, technical course, or vocational program.

    Navy League Foundation Scholarship

    • The Navy League Foundation provides approximately 25 scholarships annually of $2,500 each to children of retired Navy officers. These go to applicants enrolled or planning to enroll at a four-year institution, maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average, and have a demonstrated financial need.

    USS Tennessee Scholarship Fund

    • Sponsored by the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, the USS Tennessee Scholarship Fund provides educational assistance to children of retired naval officers who served aboard the USS Tennessee. Scholarships of $2,000 are available to children under the age of 23, and partially based on financial need.

    Dolphin Scholarship Foundation

    • The Dolphin Scholarship Foundation awards funds to children of retired naval officers who served in submarine support activities for at least 10 years. Consideration goes to full-time students under age 24 enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university. Scholarship qualifications include academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities and financial need.

    Anchor Scholarship Foundation

    • The $500 Anchor Scholarship targets children of retired naval officers who served at least six years in a command under the control of Commander of the Naval Surface Force, Atlantic and Pacific fleets. Students must pursue a four-year degree at an accredited university.

    Scholarships for Military Children Program

    • The Scholarships for Military Children Program provides $1,500 scholarships to children of retired military personnel, including Naval officers. Applicants must attend an accredited four-year college or university and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Application submission is through the nearest military commissary.
