The Air Force offers three varieties of scholarships to high school seniors, ranging between three and four years in length. All recipients must complete Air Force ROTC basic training before receiving the funds.
The Type 1 scholarship provides full tuition for four years, $900 per year to cover book expenses, and $300 a month to cover living expenses.
The Type 2 scholarship is also a four-year scholarship, but it only covers up to $18,000 a year in tuition.
The Type 7 scholarship is a three-year scholarship that covers full tuition to an in-state college.
The AFROTC also offers three varieties of scholarships to current college students. In order to receive this type of scholarship, students must pass the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test and meet the AFROTC weight and body fat standards.
The Type 2 scholarship that is capped at $18,000 a year for tuition is the premier scholarship offered to students already attending college.
Type 3 and Type 6 scholarships are also offered, which are both three-year scholarships. Type 3 scholarships are capped at $9,000 a year while the Type 6 varieties are capped at $3,000.
Two types of scholarships are offered by the AFROTC to individuals currently enlisted in the Air Force. Both the ASCP and POC scholarships offer early release from the Air Force to allow individuals to pursue a college degree. Upon completion of the degree, service obligations must be completed. The ASCP scholarship provides up to $15,000 per year while the POC scholarship provides a monthly stipend of $450 only .
