Sponsored by the State of Michigan, the Children of Veterans Tuition Grant provides up to $2,800 in education funding for natural or adopted children of Michigan veterans. The veteran must have been a legal resident of Michigan prior to or during his or her military service, and the recipient must be between the ages of 16 and 26. The grant is renewable if the recipient maintains a 2.25 GPA.

The Scholarships for Military Children program provides dependent children of veterans under the age of 23 with scholarships of $1,500. At least one scholarship is awarded annually to each commissary that is operated by the Defense Commissary Agency. Applicants must meet dependency requirements, have at least a 3.0 GPA and submit an application essay.

The U.S. Coast Guard Foundation offers a number of grants and scholarships for children of U.S. Coast Guard and Coast Guard reserve veterans. Qualifiying factors for the program include academic achievement, demonstrated leadership qualities, assessment of character, and good citizenship skills.

The American Legion Legacy Scholarship provides financial aid to children of deceased veterans. The amount of the scholarships vary, as they are determined by the number of donations received into the program. The program is available only to children of veterans and federalized reservists killed after 2001.

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships to children of Marine veterans with special considerations for children whose parents were killed or wounded in the recent war in Iraq and Afghanistan. These children may receive up to $10,000, while children whose parents were not killed or wounded receive up to $1,500. There is a 2.0 GPA requirement as well as a $65,000 limit on the applicant's gross adjusted income.

The General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant provides grants of up to $2,000 for children of Air Force veterans. While the criteria for qualifying include academic achievement, the grants are administered primarily based on need.
