The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities partners with the discount retail chain Wal-Mart in sponsoring a scholarship for high-achieving Latino students. Applicants must be full-time students at a two-year or four-year HACU-member school, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and have an interest in retail. Students must major in business administration, retail management, food merchandising or a related major. The deadline is in late May. The League of United Latin American Citizens is the oldest Hispanic organization in the country. It partners with General Electric in sponsoring a scholarship program for minority youth who are interested careers in engineering or business. Sophomores through seniors are eligible to compete for the $5000 scholarship. Two GE/LULAC scholarships are granted per year. Winning students may be offered an internship with a GE business. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be an engineering or business major, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. The deadline is the end of March.

The Chicano Organizing and Research in Education (CORE) is an educational advocacy organization working on behalf of Latino Students. Its Annual Que Llueva Café Scholarship awards aid to incoming college Chicano/Latino freshman who are not citizens but who live in the United States. Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $1000. Students must submit two letters of recommendation, a statement of financial need, a transcript, proof of college acceptance and an essay. The deadline is in late February.
