Latino Scholarships in Texas

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of Texas is more than 36.5 percent Hispanic. For Hispanic students, Texas offers a myriad of scholarship opportunities to those who want to attend a college or university in the state. There are scholarships that are focused on helping Hispanic women get a college education, while others are offered for Hispanic students studying a particular discipline, such as engineering, math and science. It was reported in the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study that more than 100,000 Hispanic students in Texas are receiving scholarships to attend college.
  1. Hispanic Women in Leadership Scholarship

    • The Hispanic Women in Leadership scholarship gives Hispanic female students the resources needed to attend a four-year college or university in Texas. The organization was chartered in June 1988 after a group of Hispanic women in Houston created the first Hispanic Women's Leadership Event. To apply for this scholarship, students will need high school transcripts, letters of recommendation and a GPA of at least 3.0.

    The MillerCoors Scholarship

    • The MillerCoors Texas scholarship is available to incoming or current full-time Hispanic undergraduate students attending a college in Dallas, Houston or El Paso. To apply for this scholarship, students must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. Applicants must have a 3.0 or higher GPA. Students must be enrolled full time and maintain a 3.0 GPA to continue receiving the scholarship throughout their four-year education program. Letters of recommendation also are required.

    The Hope Scholarship

    • The Hope Scholarship is administered by the Adelante Fund. It is available to incoming or current undergraduate Hispanic students attending an accredited college in San Antonio. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must have a 2.5 or higher GPA. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to community service. Scholarship recipients are allowed to pursue a degree in any field of study offered by a college or university in San Antonio.
