DePaul University's School of Music offers a Bachelor of Science in sound recording technology. This four-year program covers such areas as acoustics, recording, music production, theory and multimedia. The program aims to provide students with a traditional background in music skills, in addition to the ever-changing world of audio production. Students can take advantage of two recording facilities that include both analog and digital equipment. The Illinois Institute of Art--Chicago has a Bachelor of Science program in audio production. Students learn how to record, mix, edit and master audio, in addition to understanding both the technical and theoretical ideas behind it. The program aims for its students to graduate with problem solving and critical thinking skills, as well as a high level of professionalism to serve them in their post-college life. In addition to classroom work, students get to practice and learn on equipment used in the music production world.
