  1. Roosevelt University: The Music Conservatory

    • Established in 1867, the Music Conservatory at Roosevelt University offers an exceptional program that includes the academic study of music combined with studio lessons, chamber music, opera, participation in recitals and large musical ensembles. The facility is made up of over 25 members of The Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera Orchestra, such as concertmaster Robert Chen and renowned classical guitarist Denis Azabagic. Many of the alumni of The Music College of Chicago have gone on to achieve orchestral positions worldwide including in Spain, Malaysia and Japan.

    The American Conservatory of Music

    • Chicago has many opportunities for music students.

      Among the oldest and most prestigious music schools in the city of Chicago, The American Conservatory of Music's mission is "To foster the development of the Fine Arts and in particular the art of music." Since 1866, teachers and staff at the conservatory have done just that, providing students with exceptional music programs including jazz, sacred music, performance, piano, harp and many other areas of music study. Students may participate in advanced studies through the extension division to earn a degree and become a Doctor of Musical Arts. The American Conservatory of Music is structured to educate its students with a curriculum based on a Christian perspective.

    DePaul University School of Music

    • With a faculty of over 110 working professional musicians, DePaul School of Music offers students a collaborative, performance-focused curriculum. Many of the resident instructors are well-respected conductors, composers and recording artists, and esteemed members of The Lyric Opera of Chicago or The Chicago Symphony Orchestra. As of 2010, it has been reported that over 3,000 students of the DePaul University School of Music have gone on to successful careers as professional sound engineers, university teachers, musicians in world-renowned symphony orchestras, or became administrators for reputable music and theater organizations.
