    Chicago State University

    • Chicago State University is located on the city's far south side, helping to bring higher education to the more impoverished areas of the Windy City. The nursing program has two tracks: pre-professional and professional. Incoming freshmen must meet admission requirements, including having a minimum ACT score of 18 and a high school GPA of 2.5/4.0 to be accepted into the pre-professional program. For the professional program, the school will evaluate your work during your freshman and sophomore years, and you must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA and take and pass the outlined curriculum of prerequisite classes.

    UIC College of Nursing

    • The University of Illinois-Chicago College of Nursing has its main campus near the Illinois Medical District on the West Side of Chicago. The school also has regional campuses across northern and central Illinois, in Rockford, Peoria, the Quad Cities and Urbana. Freshman are not admitted into the UIC College of Nursing --- they must first apply to the school's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Freshmen may apply for guaranteed admission into the nursing program if they have an ACT score of 28 or an SAT score of 1240, and they must be ranked in the top 15 percent of their high school class.

    DePaul University

    • DePaul University's nursing program is part of its College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Located in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood on the north side, the school offers four graduate-level nursing programs, all of which require a 3.0/4.0 GPA and a bachelor's of arts or science from an accredited institution. The programs --- master's entry, adult nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner and nurse anesthetist --- all have specific requirements for application, so make sure you qualify for admission before applying.
