  1. Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing

    • The Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing awards an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing. Founded in 1883, it is one of the oldest nursing schools in the United States. The college holds accreditation from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary schools. Admission is competitive. Applicants are required to submit an application, application fee, two recommendations, a personal essay and proof of citizenship. Results from the Test for Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) and official high school and college transcripts also are required.

    Long Island University School of Nursing

    • Established in 1926 in downtown Brooklyn, Long Island University-Brooklyn campus offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science, a post-Master of Science certificate program and a Master of Science for nurse executives. The school allows professional registered nurses with prior college courses to apply credit toward their bachelor's degree through the RN-BS connection program. It also offers a dual-degree program in which students earn both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science. An application, application fee, official high school transcript, ACT or SAT scores, personal interview, letters of recommendation and an interview are required for admission. The Commission of Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools has accredited the university, and the nursing program has accreditation through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

    St Joseph's College

    • The St. Joseph's nursing program is for current registered nurses and awards a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The goals of the program are to prepare students for graduate studies, to provide students with necessary skills to begin professional practice and to provide the student with the knowledge from general and professional education. Students must provide proof of license from New York State prior to beginning the program. The school has accreditation form the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
