The Rufaida School of Nursing is located at the Jamia Hamdard University in Southern India. Established in 1994 as a way to overcome the shortage of nurses in the country, the Rufaida School of Nursing also encourages girls from Muslim minority communities and underprivileged areas to take up nursing as a profession. The objectives of the college are to train and educate nurses at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels; to train undergraduate nurses in providing sound health care; to assess the nursing needs of individuals and communities; and to work with members of a team to promote health, prevent illness, and encourage restoration and rehabilitation. Courses are offered toward a master of science in nursing, a bachelor of science in nursing, and a diploma in general nursing and midwifery.

The School of Nursing at Safdarjang Hospital offers a basic education in nursing, allowing for a degree program in general nursing and midwifery after three and a half years of study. The Safdarjang School of Nursing is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, and 35 students are admitted annually. To be eligible, students must pass a common entrance exam, conducted by the Delhi Nursing Council.
