The health sciences campus of Mississippi University, fondly called Ole Miss, is the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. UMMC provides an accomplished learning ground for nursing students, as the center also functions as the state's only level one trauma center, giving students the opportunity for hands-on clinical practice right on campus.
The nursing program offers several degree programs, including an associate of science degree, a bachelor of applied science degree and several master's programs for those who are already registered nurses. Tuition for undergraduate nursing students as of 2010 is $2,719 per semester for full-time residents of Mississippi and $6,946 for non-residents.

Students at Alcorn State can opt to graduate with either an associate's or bachelor's degree in applied sciences. The university also offers a nursing graduate program for students to work toward a career as a nurse practitioner or nurse educator.
