The University of Arkansas is located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It was founded in 1871 as a land-grand institution, and the mascot is the Razorback. UA is home to many strong academic programs, including the Clinton School of Public Service, the newest presidential school, and the Sam M. Walton College of Business, which is named for the founder of Walmart, an Arkansas native. The university is also known for its excellent athletic programs; the men's baseball team reached the College World Series in 2009.

Harding University is a private liberal arts Christian college located in Searcy, Arkansas. It was officially founded in 1924. In keeping with its Christian roots, the students at Harding are required to attend a chapel session each morning for 35 minutes, which consists of a devotional period and general campus announcements. Harding is has been working to expand its academic offerings, and it recently became accredited to offer its first doctoral degree, the Doctor of Pharmacy.

The University of Central Arkansas was founded in 1907 as the Arkansas State Normal School, a college for teachers. In 1975, the school's name was changed to the University of Central Arkansas, as the academic focus of the school had expanded to include five academic colleges and numerous fields of study. The university is well known for its four residential colleges, where students learn and live together in a residence hall, where a faculty member also lives.
