The University of Alabama's Culverhouse College of Commerce consistently earns high marks among the many organizations that rank educational institutions. Established in Tuscaloosa in 1919, Culverhouse is the oldest business school in the state. Undergraduates choose majors within the traditional areas of accounting, finance, management and marketing. "U.S. News & World Report" recently ranked the college's School of Accountancy 15th in the competitive field of public colleges in the United States. "Princeton Review" rated the college's entrepreneurship program 21st among more than 2,000 schools. Culverhouse offers programs in health care and supply chain management to meet the demands for qualified workers in those fields.
"Bloomberg Businessweek" placed Auburn University at the top of their list of best business schools in the South, and "U.S. News & World Report" ranked it 42nd among undergraduate business programs in the United States. Students at Auburn's College of Business pursue bachelor's degrees in business administration with concentrations in one of 12 areas. In addition to traditional accounting, finance and marketing programs, Auburn offers concentrations in aviation management and professional flight management. Located in Auburn, a small city in southeast Alabama, the college recently opened an office of professional development to foster ties with the business community and encourage the recruitment of business school graduates.

Located in Birmingham, the economic and industrial center of the state, the school administration works with leading businesses to create internships and other learning opportunities for students. Accounting students can specialize in forensics and information auditing to prepare for jobs investigating financial fraud. The management school offers a concentration in human resources, and students pursuing a degree in industrial distribution can focus on the medical supplies industry.
"U.S. News & World Report" listed Samford University's Brock School of Business in the top tier of its 2011 roster of the 600 best business schools. As part of a small, Baptist Church-affiliated university, Brock's programs are not as expansive as Alabama's other top business schools. However, in addition to management, marketing, accounting, entrepreneurship, finance and economics, Brock offers a program in social entrepreneurship that prepares students for management roles in non-profit organizations. Located in Birmingham, Brock has partnered with local corporations to provide internships for students majoring in accounting and management.
