The Best Placement Engineering Colleges

U.S. News & World Report magazine compiles a list of the “World’s Best Universities” for engineering and other disciplines every year. This list of high-ranking colleges and universities is based on the QS World University Rankings, which uses the following criteria: academic peer review, employer review, faculty to student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty and international students. The following comes from U.S. News & World Report's 2009 rankings of World’s Best Universities in Engineering.
  1. 1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology

    • One of the most well-known engineering schools in the entire world, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) offers top-notch education and a devotion to research in the fields of science and engineering. The MIT School of Engineering is divided into nine departments and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in aeronautics and astronautics; biological engineering; chemical engineering; civil and environmental engineering; electrical engineering and computer science; engineering systems; materials science and engineering; mechanical engineering; and nuclear science and engineering.

    4. University of Cambridge

    • The University of Cambridge, in England, is among the oldest universities in Europe. Cambridge's name brand rivals that of United States powerhouses such as MIT and Harvard. Cambridge is divided into six schools, including the Cambridge School of Technology, which is home to the Cambridge Department of Engineering. Engineering courses at Cambridge culminate in a Bachelor of Arts with Honors degree or Master of Engineering degree. A Bachelor of Science degree is not offered. Undergrad engineering students at Cambridge enroll in the same courses for the first two years, and must specialize in a specific field -- such as electrical or civil engineering -- in the third year.
